Dr. Scott Allan Cohen is an American concert pianist and teacher whose work reflects both virtuosity and musical seriousness. He serves on the faculty of the Orfeo International Music Festival in Vipiteno, Italy, and has been recognized as a prizewinner in numerous national and international competitions, including First Prize at the Orfeo International Music Competition and the Debose National Piano Competition. He was also a national finalist in the Music Teachers National Association Competition in Chicago.
Dr. Cohen is especially noted for his performances of Franz Liszt’s complete Transcendental Études, which he has presented in full recital. His playing has been praised for its “stamina, technique, and musicality,” and for a level of artistic commitment that distinguishes his performances.
He began his musical training at the Ruby Holland School of Music in Orlando, Florida, where he studied with Elizabeth Fullington. He earned his Bachelor of Music from Stetson University under Dr. Michael Rickman, his Master of Fine Arts from Tulane University under Professor Faina Lushtak, and his Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Kansas under Dr. Steven Spooner and Dr. Yi-Yang Chen. At both graduate institutions, he was awarded full scholarships and assistantships.
Alongside his performing career, Dr. Cohen maintains an active private studio in Florida, where he works with students across a wide range of levels, from beginners to advanced competition pianists.
