ORFEO ONLINE ACADEMY POLICIES
These policies are intended to provide students, families, and faculty with a clear and consistent structure while allowing the Academy to remain personal and flexible.
Academy Terms
2026-2027
Fall Term
September 21 – December 21
Spring Term
January 11 – June 11
Pre-College and Amateur Academy programs are designed for continuous study throughout each term so students can build consistency with their teacher, repertoire, and Academy activities.
Enrollment & Tuition
Pre-College and Amateur Academy tuition is billed monthly for convenience. Students are strongly encouraged to remain enrolled throughout the term to support continuity in artistic progress, faculty assignments, and scheduling.
If circumstances require a withdrawal or program change, please contact Orfeo Academy administration as early as possible so we can assist with the transition.
Tuition already billed or paid is non-refundable and is not prorated for partial months.
Students do not need to re-enroll each month while continuing in the same program.
Private Lesson Cancellation & Rescheduling
Private lessons must be cancelled or rescheduled at least 48 hours in advance. Lessons cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice are considered used and are not eligible for a makeup lesson, credit, or refund. When at least 48 hours’ notice is provided, the student and faculty member may arrange another time, subject to faculty availability.
If an instructor must cancel a lesson, the lesson will be rescheduled.
Scheduling
Private lessons are scheduled directly between the student and assigned faculty member. A consistent recurring lesson time is encouraged whenever possible.
Students and families are responsible for maintaining the agreed schedule and communicating directly with their teacher regarding permitted rescheduling.
Late Arrival
A student who arrives late will receive the remainder of the scheduled lesson. Lessons end at the originally scheduled time.
Academy Programs & Missed Events
Performance Studios, Academy Seminars, artist masterclasses, recitals, showcases, and other group activities are scheduled in advance.
Because these programs involve multiple students and faculty, missed group activities cannot be rescheduled individually and do not qualify for tuition credit or refund.
Academy programming may occasionally be adjusted or substituted as the calendar develops.
Program or Faculty Changes
Requests to change faculty, lesson frequency, or Academy program should be submitted to Orfeo administration.
We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate requests, but changes depend on faculty availability, scheduling, and program capacity.
Whenever possible, changes are made at a natural transition point rather than disrupting an established lesson schedule.
Orfeo Young Musicians
Young Musicians enrollment covers the complete 10-week session. Tuition is not prorated for missed classes or withdrawal after the session begins.
Groups are formed according to instrument, level, age, time zone, and enrollment. If Orfeo is unable to form an appropriate group, any tuition collected for that session will be transferred to another agreed option.
Orfeo Studio Membership
Orfeo Studio Membership is billed monthly. Members may cancel before the next billing date to prevent the following month’s charge. Membership fees already paid are non-refundable.
Private lessons are not included in Studio Membership. Students may continue studying with their existing private teacher or enroll separately in the Pre-College or Amateur Academy.
Online Participation
Students are responsible for maintaining a reliable internet connection, a working device with camera and microphone, a tripod if applicable, and an appropriate space for online participation.
Technical difficulties on the student’s side do not ordinarily qualify for a makeup lesson, credit, or refund.
Recitals, Masterclasses, Winter Salons & Special Events
Participation in particular recitals, showcases, masterclasses, Winter Salons, or other special events may depend on program enrollment, repertoire readiness, location, capacity, and faculty recommendation.
Not every student is guaranteed participation in every special event. Some optional events may require separate registration or an additional fee when indicated.
Orfeo in Italy
Participation in the Orfeo Online Academy does not guarantee admission to the Orfeo Summer Academy or Orfeo Music Festival in Italy.
Academy students may receive priority or expedited consideration and preparation where appropriate. Summer participation remains subject to the separate application, selection, tuition, and policies of the applicable Orfeo summer program.
Community Standards
Students are expected to treat faculty, staff, fellow students, and other participants respectfully and to contribute to a supportive and professional musical environment.
Orfeo reserves the right to discontinue participation in cases of serious or repeated inappropriate conduct.
Policy Agreement
Enrollment in the Orfeo Online Academy constitutes acceptance of these policies.
