Not every serious musician chooses music as a profession — and Orfeo has always believed that doesn't make the pursuit any less serious. The Amateur program exists for adults who never stopped, or who are only now returning: the same instruction, the same repertoire, the same community, without the presumption that professional ambition is the only reason to play well.

The Amateur Academy is designed for dedicated adult musicians who want serious, individualized study without pursuing music professionally.
Students work toward their own musical goals with accomplished faculty while gaining opportunities to perform, learn from other artists, and connect with musicians who share a lasting commitment to classical music.
What’s Included
Private Instruction
Individual lessons focused on your repertoire, technique, interpretation, and personal artistic goals.
Performance Studios
Perform in an encouraging setting, receive faculty feedback, hear other musicians, and develop greater confidence and ease in performance.
Artist Masterclasses & Academy Seminars
Sessions exploring repertoire, interpretation, effective practice, memorization, performance confidence, music history and context, and other topics that deepen the experience of making music.
Recitals & Showcases
Opportunities to perform in Academy recitals, informal performance salons, showcases, and selected events throughout the year.
Personalized Repertoire & Artistic Development
Work with your teacher to choose meaningful repertoire and develop it according to your interests, abilities, and goals.
Winter Salons
Seasonal in-person gatherings in select U.S. locations bringing members of the Orfeo community together for performance, conversation, and music.
How It Works
Students may choose weekly or biweekly private instruction with an assigned Orfeo Academy faculty member. Lessons are scheduled directly between the student and faculty member.

Continue Your Orfeo Journey in Italy
For musicians who want to take their Orfeo experience further, the summer offers an opportunity to combine serious musical study with performance, community, and life in Italy.
Academy students may receive priority or expedited consideration and preparation for Orfeo’s summer programs. Selected students may continue their studies and performance experience in Italy.
