The Pre-College Academy is designed for young musicians seeking individualized artistic development, performance opportunities, and preparation for auditions, competitions, prescreenings, and future college or conservatory study.
Students work with accomplished conservatory, university, professional, and festival faculty while becoming part of the broader Orfeo Academy experience.
What’s Included
Private Instruction
Individual study with an Orfeo Academy faculty member, with personalized attention to technique, repertoire, interpretation, and artistic development.
Performance Studio
Regular opportunities to perform for fellow students, receive faculty feedback, develop stage confidence, and prepare repertoire for auditions, competitions, and performances.
Masterclasses & Academy Seminars
Sessions with faculty and guest artists exploring interpretation, repertoire, effective practice, memorization, musicianship, performance preparation, and related topics.
Recitals & Showcases
Opportunities to perform in Online Academy recitals, showcases, and selected events throughout the year.
Audition & Competition Preparation
Individual guidance for auditions, competitions, prescreening recordings, and other performance opportunities.
College & Conservatory Guidance
For older students, guidance on repertoire, prescreenings, auditions, and preparation for college or conservatory study when appropriate.
Individual Progress & Repertoire Planning
Ongoing attention to repertoire, artistic goals, and musical development.
How It Works
Students receive weekly private instruction with an assigned Orfeo Academy faculty member. Lessons are scheduled directly between the student and faculty member.
Academy programming takes place throughout the year and includes:

Continue Your Orfeo Journey in Italy
The Pre-College Academy creates a year-round connection to Orfeo in Italy. Academy students may receive priority or expedited consideration and preparation for Orfeo’s summer programs, and selected students may continue their studies and performance experience in Italy.
