Kristina Mkhitaryan is one of today’s leading sopranos, acclaimed for the beauty, elegance, and emotional force of her singing. A graduate of the Gnessin Academy of Music and the Bolshoi Theatre’s Young Artists Opera Program, she has quickly established herself on the international stage.
A major prizewinner, including at Operalia, the Queen Sonja International Music Competition, Neue Stimmen, and the Viotti Competition, Mkhitaryan has appeared with many of the world’s foremost opera houses. Her recent and notable engagements include the Royal Opera House, Metropolitan Opera, Wiener Staatsoper, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Bayerische Staatsoper, Dutch National Opera, Glyndebourne Festival, Teatro Real Madrid, Gran Teatre del Liceu, Opéra Bastille, and Hamburgische Staatsoper.
Her repertoire includes signature roles such as Violetta in La traviata, Mimì and Musetta in La bohème, Gilda in Rigoletto, Tatiana in Eugene Onegin, Micaëla in Carmen, Liù in Turandot, Adina in L’elisir d’amore, Leïla in Les pêcheurs de perles, and the title roles in Manon and Maria Stuarda.
