Lilit Davtyan, soprano

A new star of Salzburg Festival 2023, Lilit Davtyan began her musical career at an early age. In 2014, she graduated with distinction in voice and piano and got a medal as “The Best Student” from the Sayat-Nova Music School. In 2020 Lilit got bachelor’s degree in “Performing arts”, followed by a master’s degree in 2022. In 2021, she joined the Young Opera Artists Program of the Bolshoi Theatre. She has been studying voice with the Artistic Director of the Program, Dmitry Vdovin, Makvala Kasrashvili, Luba Orfenova and Ekaterina Vasheruk. In addition, she has attended master classes with Sergei Leiferkus, Ildar Abdrazakov, Evamaria Wieser, Semjon Skigin, Alessandro Amoretti, Giulio Zappa, Mzia Bakhtouridze.

In 2021, Lilit was featured in Donizetti's Don Pasquale, as Norina, and in Gluck’s Orfeo and Euridice as Euridice. She made her debut on the Historical stage and on the New stage of the Bolshoi Theatre inWagner’s Lohengrin,Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, and Kai and Gerda by Sergei Banevich in 2022.

Recent highlights include Pamina in Die Zauberflöte by Mozart, Adel in Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss, soprano solist in Stabat Mater by Pergolesi, Gloria by Vivaldi, Requiem and Messa dell’Incoronazione by Mozart, Carmina burana by Orff and participation in Chamber Music concerts in Beethoven Hall of the Bolshoi Theatre.

Lilit’s awards include 2016 “Grand Prix” of the XII International Competition-Festival of Young Performers in Yekaterinburg, Russia, 2019 I Prize” at the XVI International Città di Pesaro Competition in Pesaro, Italy, 2020 Lusine Zakaryan award for “The best interpreter of sacred songs” in Yerevan, Armenia, 2021 II Prize and Special Prize at the II International Competition Jose Carreras Grand Prix, 2022 a special prize for performing art songs by Rachmaninov in Rachmaninov International Competition for Pianists, Composers and Conductors.

Lilit’s operatic repertoire includes Orpheus and Eurydice by Gluck, The Magic Flute, The Marriage of Figaro, Don Giovanni by Mozart, Don Pasquale, L’elisir d’amore by Donizetti, Werther by Massenet, The Snow Maiden by Rimsky-Korsakov.
