Acclaimed internationally for his brilliant technique and musicality, Dmitry Eremin enjoys a prominent career as soloist, chamber music performer, mentor and leader of the St. Petersburg Cello Ensemble.   A native of St. Petersburg, Dmitry Eremin grew up in a family of musicians and began studying music at the age of eight with I. Bogdanovitch at the Special Music School for gifted children. At school and later in the St. Petersburg Conservatory Dmitry Eremin studies with Professor Anatoly Nikitin, an outstanding musician and legendary master of the St. Petersburg Cello tradition.  Later Dmitry Eremin has studied in master classes with such distinguished musicians as Professors Helmerson, Geringas, Georgian and Monighetti.  Dmitry Eremin was awarded high prizes at various competitions, including the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow (1998), first prizes at the All-Russian Cello Competition in Voronezh (1997), and the 4th International Maria Yudina Competition in St.Petersburg (2002).

Dimitry Eremin has participated in numerous prestigious music festivals, such as the Davos Festival (Switzerland), the World Cello Congress (directed by Mstislav Rostropovich), the Cello Festival in Beauvais (France), the Internationale Bach-Tage (Germany), and orfeo Music Festival (Italy).  Dimitry Eremin held the position of  ‘Solo Cellist’ with the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra (chief conductor Yuri Temirkanov) performing concertos by Dvorak, Schostakovich and the St. Petersburg première of Rodion Shchedrin’s cello concertos which was highly praised by the composer. He has recorded with both German and Russian labels.

In addition to his extensive performing career, Dimitry Eremin teaches at the St. Petersburg Conservatory, Mussorgsky Music College and a ‘Tutti’ Music School for gifted children in St. Petersburg. In the past two years Lilla Akademien has been privileged to have Dimitry Eremin as a cello teacher at the summer school. He is also a guest teacher at a newly-founded university in New York.
