The Orfeo International Music Competition shall comprise the following specialties: violin, viola, violoncello, bass, piano, voice, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon. The competition is open to all and has no age limitation. This year we are happy to announce the addition of Orfeo Festival Concerto Competition.
Orfeo Festival Concerto Competition Winners will receive Orfeo Concerto Prize and perform Concerto movement from Baroque or Classical period repertory with the Orfeo Festival Orchestra.
The competition will have two rounds: the winners of First Round shall be selected on the basis of video tape audition (no additional tape is required, the application video will suffice) and informed of their status by April 30. The winners of the First Round shall be required to e-mail their Final Round program after consulting with their teachers. This program may consist of two (more for singers if desired) contrasting pieces from standard repertory not exceeding 15 minutes (e.g. short piece, a movement of a larger composition). Final Round is held during the festival and open to public. One day before the Final Round, the contestants will cast lots to determine the order of presentation at the competition. Winners will be featured in the special Competition Winners Concert. The following monetary prizes shall be awarded: First Prize — $700, Second Prize – $450, and Honorary Mention — $200. In order to apply for participation in the competition, please complete the appropriate section in the Application Form. Last year’s winners are not eligible.
